Who We Are
The International Human Rights Society (IHRS) is a student-led organisation at CU London, dedicated to promoting equality, justice, human rights awareness, and student welfare. Founded with the vision of empowering young voices, IHRS has grown into a movement of leaders, advocates, and changemakers.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple yet powerful: "Bring the Change You Deserve." This isn't just a slogan — it's our promise to ourselves, our fellow students, and our communities. It means standing up against injustice, speaking out when others stay silent, and believing that each of us has the power to create a fairer, kinder world.
Our Core Values
At IHRS, we are guided by fundamentalvalues:
- Equality — Every person deserves equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal respect, regardless of background, identity, or belief.
- Justice — We believe in fair treatment, in holding systems accountable, and in standing beside those who face discrimination or mistreatment.
- Human Rights — The right to live freely, to be educated, to speak without fear, and to be treated with dignity are at the heart of everything we do.
- Student Rights — We work tirelessly to ensure that every student knows their rights, receives proper support, and feels protected within their academic environment.
What We Do
IHRS works both within and beyond university campuses to promote awareness, provide assistance, and take meaningful action on human rights and student welfare:
- Student Assistance — Supporting students in resolving academic and personal concerns through guidance, welfare support, and proper referrals.
- Human Rights Education — Educating students, staff, and the public about their rights, from understanding equality laws to recognising unfair treatment.
- Awareness Campaigns — Running campaigns, workshops, and discussions on social, cultural, and human rights issues.
- Advocacy and Voice — Speaking up and taking stands against injustice, discrimination, and inequality.
- Community Engagement — Building bridges between students, staff, and the wider community through events and outreach programmes.
- Empowerment through Education — Teaching about rights, equality, diversity, and inclusion — because knowledge is the first step towards real change.
